He did all of this while playing American Football at the same time, and accumulated over 700 yards during the season as a wide-receiver, something that caught the eye of many college scouts. Lebron broke two records that season, he was the first Sophomore to be named as ‘Mr Basketball’ in Ohio and also the first to be named onto the USA Today All-USA first team. That team only lost one game again ending with a 26-1 record to take another Division III state title. During LeBron’s Sophomore season, he upped his production with averages of 25.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 5.8 assists. ![]() Lebron’s coach at the time was Keith Dambrot, who clearly saw potential early and quickly arranged additional practice time one-on-one with Lebron at a local training center. LeBron hit the ground running, averaging 21 points per game, 6.2 rebounds as a Freshman leading his team ended to a 23-1 record to take the Division III state title. In his freshman year he was named as a starter for the Fighting Irish, quickly becoming accustomed to high school play.
